This stitch is similar to the Chain Stitch, but the loop is twisted, givine the embroidered line the look of a braided rope.

Instead of inserting the needle back in the same place as the start of the stitch, insert it just outside the last stitch, with the loop twisted. Refer to the diagram below to get the direction of the twist right. Work the loops fairly close together to achieve the braided look.
