You can use the Stem Stitch (or Outline Stitch) to embroider a rose.
Start with two small Straight Stitches in the center,
and work a Stem or Outline Stitch in a spiral outwards.
Hints:
For a multi-colored rose, stitch the
center Straight Stitches in the darkest color, the first
one or two spiral circuts in the medium color, and two
or three circuits on the outside with the lightest color.
