This stitch is a complicated variation of the Chain Stitch, that make a solid, packed leaf or petal shape.

Start with a single Twisted Chain Stitch, and thread the needle under the stitch as shown, without piercing the fabric (Step 1). Next, make a regular Chain Stitch around the first one (Step 2). Follow the diagram for needle placement. Pull the second stitch tight, being careful to keep the loop outside and alongside the first stitch. Finally, secure the second stitch with a small anchoring stitch (Step 3).
