This variation of the
French Knot is slightly bigger than the
single-wrap knot.
Make this stitch the same way as you would make a French Knot, but wrap the thread twice
or three times around the needle instead of once (Step
1).
Hints:
The more wraps, the bigger the
knot; however, if you stitch too many wraps, the knot
ends up looking very loose and sloppy.
If you need to use more than three
wraps to get the knot the size you want, don't. Instead,
use a thicker thread, or stitch with more than one
thread in the needle. Typically, with stranded cotton,
you would separate the individual strands and stitch
with two or three strands (or plies).
