LAYERED SATIN STITCH

This is a way to pad a Satin Stitch, a bit easier to execute than the Highly Padded Satin Stitch.

First, outline the shape with the Outline Stitch or Split Backstitch. Next, fill the shape with parallel Straight Stitches. You don't need to be all that precise with these stitches. The third step is to lay more Straight Stitches on the inside of the shape, opposite and on top of the first padding layer. Continue laying Straight Stitch padding layers until you've built up the shape as high as you want it. Then stitch the Satin Stitches on the top.

Hints:
  • The Satin Stitches must lie across the final layer of padding, not in the same direction.
  • Refer to the Padded Satin Stitch for additional hints on how to perfect this stitch.
