This stitch makes a raised Cross Stitch, a wonderful 3-D look.

Start with a Cross Stitch or a St. George Cross Stitch, and add an additionall cross over it.

A fancy variation of this stitch is to add 8 additional stitches between the 8 you just made. This raises the stitch even more. Different effects can be achieved by making these new stitches shorter or in a different color.
