There are many ways of stitching a rosebud
with the Bullion Stitch - here are a few.
Rosebud A: Start with the center petal in a darker
color, stitching a 6-wrap Bullion Stitch. Switch to a lighter
color and stitch 2 6-wrap Bullion Stitches on the outside.
Make one end of these knots be in the same hole as the
first stitch. Lastly, if you choose, you can stitch a
calyx and stem with the Fly Stitch.
Rosebud B: Start with a 6-wrap Bullion Stitch in a
darker color. Stitch two 8-wrap Bullion Stitches in a lighter
color on the outside, sharing the same endpoints as the first
knot. This makes the outer knots curve around the center knot.
Rosebud C: Start with a 6-wrap Bullion Stitch in the
darker color. Stitch two 6-wrap Bullion Stitches on the sides,
just as with Rosebud A. With the lighter color, stitch a 10-wrap
Bullion Stitch on either side of the previous stitches, with
one endpoint meeting at the center, so that these petals curve
around. Finally, in green, stitch two 6-wrap Bullion Stitches
right below the bud to form the calyx, and another 6-wrap
Bullion Stitch to form the stem.
