ALTERNATING CABLE STITCH
A common application for the Cable Stitch is to make a row of little Flowerettes.

Start with a row of Cable Stitches. In a second pass, stitch groups of three cable stitches, above and below the line, as shown. To start a flowerette on the other side of the line, angle the needle so that you exit in position to stitch the next cluster of 3 cables.
Hints:
  • To make the Alternating Cables look more like little flowers, try stitching a French Knot in a contrasting color in the middle of each cluster.
  • Another pretty effect is to stitch a small bead in the center of the flowerettes.
